Matt returned to Thunder Bay for law school after five years working on Parliament Hill. He joined the firm as a first-year law student and then as an associate lawyer after being Called to the Bar in 2023.
While in Ottawa, Matt worked as a Press Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office and held similar positions with the Minister of Labour and for the Minister of Health. In these roles, he had the opportunity to work on several important federal policy and legislative initiatives. His most memorable moments of his time in Ottawa were undertaking the Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and attending G20 and the United Nations as part of the Canadian delegation.
Matt is a graduate of Lakehead University’s Political Science program with a specific focus on Indigenous issues. He graduated from the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law in 2023, where he was an Editor of the Lakehead Law Journal and a pro-bono student with Pro Bono Students Canada.
As a young professional, Matt believes in the potential of Thunder Bay and looks forward to practicing law in his hometown. Matt gives back to the community by volunteering with local organizations, like the Canadian Mental Health Association and the Italian Society of Port Arthur.
