Dawson Somerville HBA, JD
Dawson joined Buset LLP as a summer law student and completed her practice placement with the firm before joining the firm as an associate lawyer following her Call to the Bar of Ontario in 2024.
Dawson completed her Honours Bachelor of Arts in Law with a minor of Business at Carleton University before advancing her studies at Lakehead University’s Bora Laskin Faculty of Law and obtaining her JD in June 2024. During her time at law school, Dawson was the Vice President of Finance for the Bora Laskin Law Student’s Society, was a dean’s fellow, and a tutor and the coordinator for the second year civil practice course. She also competed in the Tort Law Moot Competition.
Dawson’s academic achievements are notable: she earned the third highest overall average in her first year, was on the Dean’s List and was the recipient of the President’s Award for her contributions to the faculty upon graduation.
In addition to her academic and leadership roles, Dawson is a member of the Ontario Bar Association. She was the ambassador to the student section from the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law during law school and continues to be a member of the OBA, reflecting her commitment to ongoing engagement with the broader legal community.
